What Is Pre-Selling?

What Is Pre-SellingIn this post, I am going to talk about pre-selling from an affiliate marketer’s point of view.

When it comes to promoting one’s product/service as an affiliate, many affiliate marketers do nothing but try to hard-sell the product to their prospects. As an affiliate marketer, selling is not your job, but the product owner’s (in a form of his/her product salesletter). And also, simply by hard-selling, it will not work.

Your job as an affiliate marketer is to pre-sell your prospects. So, what exactly is pre-selling? And what does pre-selling your prospects involve? In this post, I am going to share with you everything you need to know about pre-selling products/services to your customers as an affiliate marketer.

Pre-Selling DefinedPre-Selling Defined

Pre-selling is where you need to educate your prospects about a particular product/service – It is where you need to remove any possible objections or resistance your prospects will have about a particular product/service (it is only by removing any objections or resistences your prospects have that will they get into a buying mood).

Along with that, you will also need to educate him/her about the product/service you are promoting, such as how it can help them (in terms of benefits). The number of benefits must be overwhelming enough such that your prospects will feel that he/she will lose out on something if he/she did not purchase the them.

How To Pre-Sell To Your Prospects?

There are a couple of ways which you can pre-sell a particular product/service to your prospects, and they are:

Pre-Selling In A Form Of A Product Review1. Review Page

You can create a website to conduct a full review of the product/service that you are promoting as an affiliate.

Your review could include information such as:

  • Overview of what the product is about

  • Who is the product creator, along with why your prospects should listen to him/her

  • Different components available within the product itself and how each component can benefit your prospects

  • Negatives about the product (Surely there are some negative points about a product. And if it is to be an unbiased review, you must include some negative points about it. However, the number of negative points must not be more than the positive ones)

Giving Away Free Reports Relating To The Subject Of The Product/Service And Pre-Sell To Your Prospects Within The Reports2. Free Report

You can create a landing page to give away a free report (that is about 15 – 20 pages in length) which discusses on the subject area in which the product/service you are promoting is about.

Within the report, you would want to provide your readers with some useful information (such as providing them with some tips, or answers to some of the questions that they may have regarding the subject area) and within the report itself, you can introduce the product/service you are promoting to your readers, along with highlighting how it can help him/her.

Pre-Selling To Your Email Subscribers3. Follow-Up Emails

If you already have a list built up, what you can do is to send them 2 – 3 emails to inform (as well as educate) them about the product/service.

In the first email, what you will want to do is to highlight the single most important benefit on what the it can do for your subscribers.

And in the second and third email, you can highlight some problems that this product/service can help solve – And let your subscribers know that if they are currently encountering the exact same problems that you have just listed, they may want to give it a try.

To help you generate more sales, you may want to offer some incentives, such as giving them some bonus products, or you can conduct a free 2-hour teleseminar where you will take any questions from your customers who purchase the product/service from your affiliate link as a bonus, etc.

I certainly hope that, after reading this article, you will have a better understanding on what pre-selling is, along with what you need to do as an affiliate when it comes to promoting other peoples’ products/services.
